The purpose of a Community (Health) Needs Assessment is to provide current and accurate information to the organizations’ board, organizational leaders and team members for the purpose of strategic planning, priority setting, program outcomes, and program improvements. This tool is intended to act as a “Road Map” that demonstrates the linkages between community needs, assets, and services provided.
While there is no single method that works best, most effective assessments will utilize more than one method for data collection and when possible use both quantitative and qualitative data collection.
